From Our Happy Quilters - about Jackie

Sheri G:  I loved Quilting 101 with Jackie. The class was very well planned out for a beginning quilting student! Jackie is a great teacher and this class was the beginning of my love of quilting!

Rose B:  I think I have taken just about every one of Jackie's classes offered to include  Quilting 101, Color Theory, landscapes, applipiecing, thin borders, crazy quilts, free motion, sea animals, dragon flies, pineapple and more. I have attended Jackies quilt camp for at least a decade making a quilt each year.  She has also done my longarming. I have continued to learn from Jackie over the years and look forward to her classes and camp each year.  Jackie has a kind way about her and makes you feel good about what you do. I have recommended many people to Jackie and will continue to do so.

Katie L:

These are some of the things that come to mind when I think of last years quilt camp:  kindness, feeling welcomed, patience and grace as I learn more about quilting, laughter and fun-

Connie S:  Jackie brings an air of positivity to any project. Her past experience as a classroom teacher is evident in the organization and presentation of materials, when teaching a technique or pattern.

Sheri K.   I  absolutely love taking classes from Jackie! She has a wonderful way of making even new techniques easy to understand, and her knowledge, patience, and enthusiasm are truly inspiring. Her classes are always fun, encouraging, and filled with helpful tips that I can take home and use. If you're looking for a teacher who will help you grow your quilting skills while having a great time, I highly recommend her classes! I look forward to out Texas Quilt Camp.

Faith P:  I attended Jackie’s 101 Quilting class to learn the basics of quilting, which I knew nothing about and also attended her quilt camps. I still have a long way to go, but I now have made several beautiful quilts and made many friendships along the way at her quilt camps. Jackie is an amazing person and instructor and provides you with knowledge from her own experiences. I would recommend her class and also the quilt camps to anyone who is interested in quilting. Just be careful as it does become an addiction!

Here are some photos and testimonials from quilting students about Dorene!
From Greenville, TX Program - Threads of Inspiration by Dorene Joyce Designs:    In Threads of Inspiration program/lecture, Dorene combined a trunk show with live online demonstrations that show how AI can spark creativity and streamline quilt pattern design.  Her lecture blends quilts, creativity, and modern AI magic. Dorene showed us how today’s tools can help quilters design, simplify images, explore color, and bring new ideas to life.  After her demonstration, I pulled up Co-Pilot, and I was able to create a picture on the spot!  It's much easier than it might appear!   Me, doing AI! Wow!

Thank you so much!  I loved your class and technique!

I truly enjoyed Dorene’s class.  It was a whole new technique that lended itself to a perfect finish project.

I’ve been quilting a number of years. I enjoy making art quilts. As a painter and glass fusing and making stain glass. I do many other types of craft, Having learning disabilities, crafting in any form this is a place where I can excel.

I loved the way the rose came out because of stain glass look. Previously I’ve done a number of ocean scapes. When I saw Dorene’s jellyfish pattern, I was so excited. It was a perfect size and lended itself to the excitement of picking out different fabrics. Putting it together and adding some other items to the ocean backdrop was fulfilling too.

I would enjoy buying more of her patterns and making other things using fabrics from my stash and her stylish patterns.

The pattern you made using AI,  from my horse photo look great!  I hope I can do him justice!  Can't wait!
Will start looking for appropriate fabric colors--the posterization really helps see the color separation.

Pam R:  The first time I met Jackie was at a quilt camp in Texas.  I had only been quilting for a few weeks and had just finished my first quilt top for a table runner. I didn’t know hardly anything about quilting other than I could sew a somewhat straight line.  She kept her lessons to the group simple and clear enough that I could follow her.  She also used a creative method of helping each of us at our own pace.  She was always friendly and encouraging.  It is because of her and her sister, Dorene, that I fell in love with quilting.  I have been quilting for 10 years, faithfully attend Jackie’s camps, and am now a competent and even award winning quilter
Jodi P:  I met Jackie when I took her Quilting 101 class.  I was brand new to quilting and pretty much brand new to sewing.  Jackie was so patient with my learning curve as well as my anxiety.  I went to her class to learn something I had been dreaming about doing for a long time and walked away with many new skills, a burning desire to learn more, and a wonderful friendship.  She is an amazing person, and an incredible teacher who is so generous with sharing her skills and passion for quilting with others.
Patty N:  Jackie has more patience than anyone I know. She is a skilled quilter who shares tips and skills with me every year at quilt camp. Then she works her magic to long arm the finished quilt to a thing of beauty.
Bette T:  Going to camp with Jackie is the Best! She is the best teacher. We learn a new quilt, yet have lots of fun!
Jean L:  I took Jackie's 101 class twice and learned so much. She is a great teacher and is very patient. Also attended several of her quilt camps and had a wonderful time. Again learning a lot with each quilt I have made under her tutelage. I went from knowing nothing about quilting to being quite confident under her guidance.
Kim S:  (A mail-in/longarm customer)  Good morning,  The quilt was just delivered. Once again, you have out done yourself. I absolutely love the rows and windmills. The design is perfect. I was just singing your praises to my husband. Your creativity knows no bounds. Thank you for taking the time to finish this quilt. I know it is a rather simple quilt when compared to your skills, but it will be enjoyed for years to come. Thank you for making the quilt look extraordinary! Have a wonderful day. Take care, Kim
